The North American 5v5 Gold Groupfighting League was the third installment of the league's iteration. The league was created and hosted by Aurum and co-hosted by Windflower. The league was refereed by: Piktonss, NickCole, Jolly, Wastee and Yoloswag. This league had been a climatic season with a large amount of interaction and player-based support. The league also featured the first time that a Bo3 (series) and a Bo30 (individual match) was implemented. Furthermore, a $250 prize pool was awarded to the first place team. There were also weekly bonuses given out to players that had done significantly well in a certain aspect (most kills that week, most first bloods, etc.). This amounted to $60 and made the overall prize pool $310 dollars.
Format
Regular Season & Playoffs This league featured a regular season that determined the placements and entrance into the playoffs. The regular season lasted for 5 weeks (extended to 6 weeks due to holidays) where each team played one series during that week. The playoff requires the team sitting at the 6th seed will be eliminated from the playoffs while the 4th and 5th seeds will play out a qualifying match to gain their spot in the playoffs. Seeds #1-#3 are clinched in their respective spots.
Match Format Matches were played in a best-of-3 series where the team that managed to win two matches would take the win for the week. Within these matches, "maps" were played as a best-of-30. If a tie was achieved, over-time would commence and play out in a best-of-6 situation until a winner was decided. Eventually, over-time rules were scaled back to a maximum of one best-of-6 series, with a ft4 being played as a tie-breaker.
